So I have to be honest..this past week has been rough!!!! I thought I had learned how to deal with things and not emotionally eat. Well this past week I had an absolutely terrible week and I emotionally ate like I never ate before. I get 28 points plus a day and on my worst day I ate 81 points plus. Now, I get 49 weekly points and I earned 26 activity points for the week. After all of these extra points I had negative 63 points that I used throughout the week. Talk about depressing! However, from all of this I have learned lots! I have realized how disgusting I feel. Towards the end of the week I began getting headaches and not having the normal energy that I usually have. As I was running the other day I felt as I was being weighted down by all of the junk I had been eating. I then began to think back past this week and through the last couple of months. As I thought back I realized how slowly my portions were getting bigger and my fruit, vegetables and water intake were getting smaller. This is NOT okay!!! You should have at least 5-6 servings of fruit and veggies a day and 6-8 glasses of water a day. I was lucky if I was even getting 3 servings of fruit/veggies and 4-5 glasses of water a day. As soon as I realized this I hit the grocery store. I eat one banana each morning (which I have always done) and now I make sure my lunch bag is full of fruits and/or veggies. I pack at least 2-3 servings to go with my lunch and one for the ride home. I am also trying to eat fruit at night rather than snacking on other things. The larger portion sizes is where I am stuck. I am unable to snack between breakfast and lunch (because of work) which means I am more hungry and want to eat more for lunch. Hopefully packing the fruits/ veggies with my lunch will help me to fill up and still eat small portions. Same thing for the evenings. Now that I am packing a fruit to eat on the way home hopefully that will help me to feel more satisfied and to eat small portions at dinner.
Something else I am noticing. Running has been getting harder. I have not increased distance or timing yet and I am struggling more than ever. I can think of two reasons this may be so 1. my eating habits that I mentioned above and 2. I have not been going to boot camp regularly as I previously was doing. Boot camp was strengthening and toning muscles. Running was definitely easier (not easy but easier) when I was going to boot camp. I have realized my need to continue other exercises and not just running. My goal for this week is to try to mix things up a bit. I have not decided exactly what I will do yet but I will fill you in on next weeks blog. I am going to make a plan sometime this weekend.
If you have any helpful tips/motivation I would LOVE to hear it. I can use any motivation possible right now! Thanks for sticking with me through this journey and encouraging me along the way. The compliments keep me going. They are usually given on days that I am feeling not so encouraged or motivated. They remind me of just how far I have come and encourage me to keep pushing on. I am so ready to get out of this place I am stuck in and continue moving on. I have come too far to fall backwards now. I have a goal in sight and I won't stop until I reach it. Today is the day I put the past in the past and start fresh.
